2 people arrested, 3 teen girls wanted for the death of Ghanaian taxi driver in NYC

The New York Police Department has detained two of the five suspects in the murder of Kutin Gyimah, a 52-year-old Ghanaian cab driver. Austin Amos and Nickolas Porter, both 20 years old, turned themselves in on Wednesday night after the NYPD designated them wanted.

Amos is charged with manslaughter, gang assault, and theft, among other things. He’s previously been arrested six times before for robbery, criminal mischief, criminal contempt, and sexual misconduct.

In addition, three adolescent girls aged 13 to 16 are wanted by police after horrible footage of the attack went viral.

The five suspects were seen on camera beating the deceased and attempting to rob him in Far Rockaway after they refused to pay their fee.

The five suspects assaulted the cab driver, who was defenseless, and when he was able to get back on his feet, one of the men slapped him on the head, knocking him to the ground and rendering him unable to get up.

The suspects then fled the scene, all of them smiling as they walked away into the building.

The cab driver banged his head on the ground, sustaining significant head damage, and died at St. John’s hospital after being transported there.

Kutin Gyimah was a married guy with four small children who lived in the Bronx with his family and worked as a cab driver in Queens.
