Akufo-Addo lists seven benefits of the national cathedral

The national cathedral will have seven advantages when it is finished, according to President Akufo-Addo.

He claims that by providing a formal setting for state-sponsored religious activity, the cathedral will complete a gap in the spiritual architecture of the country.

The President also mentioned the national cathedral created by Sir David Adjaye while speaking to the symposium of the Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar on Tuesday [July 26, 2022] in Accra.

1. Provide a place of worship that is nondenominational

2. Will center nation-building initiatives on God

3. In a country with a majority of Christians, provide a designated place of worship for state occasions.

4. Act as a catalyst for the spread of the Christian faith

5. Bring Christians together

6. Pay homage to religious freedom

7. More importantly, it will be a time for us to give thanks to God as a nation for the blessings he has bestowed upon us, sparing us from the devastation of civil war, which has plagued the histories of nearly all of our neighbors, and from the outbreak of widespread epidemics.

Historic national cathedral construction

The president continued, saying that just as the construction of the Temple of Solomon was a historic event for the entire globe, so too was the building of the national cathedral for the continent of Africa.

As a result, he claimed, components like the design had been added to make it appropriate for the African church.

The innovative architecture, the African Bible Museum, and the African Biblical Gardens, he added, “would serve to ensure the project’s relevance to the church in Africa.”
