Aston Villa Confirm Exit Of George Boateng

George Boateng’s departure from his post at the Academy has been confirmed by Aston Villa.

 

After originally spending a year working with the under-18s in 2019, the 46-year-old has spent the previous two years as a professional development phase coach with the club’s under-21/23s.

 

Boateng made over 100 appearances as a player and spent a year working at Blackburn Rovers before coming back to Villa Park as a coach.

 

After three years of working with the young players at our Academy, Aston Villa released a statement saying that it would like to thank George and wish him the best in his new position with the Ghanaian national team.After helping the Black Stars qualify for the World Cup on an interim basis, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) named Boateng as head coach Otto Addo’s assistant in May.

 

The World Cup, which begins on November 20, 2022, has placed Ghana in Group H with Portugal (on November 24), South Korea (on November 28), and Uruguay (on December 2).
