End of COVID-19 Pandemic ‘in Sight’ – WHO Boss

WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Wednesday that the end of the COVID-19 pandemic is “in sight” and that the world is now in the best possible position to defeat it. He urged nations to continue the fight.

“We are now in a better position than ever to stop the pandemic. Although the end is not in sight just yet, Ghebreyesus stated it in a press conference.

The COVID-19 death toll for the past week was the lowest since March 2020, according to the head of the WHO.

Ghebreyesus urged all nations to prioritize immunizing 100% of the most vulnerable populations, such as healthcare workers and the elderly, in order to reach a vaccination coverage rate of 70%.

On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization classified the COVID-19 outbreak as a pandemic. According to the WHO, the coronavirus had caused over 6.4 million deaths and more than 605 million infections as of September 11.
