Gov’t to create 1m jobs with e-levy proceeds – John Kumah

Ghanaians will soon reap the benefits of the e-levy, according to Deputy Finance Minister John Kumah, thanks to the implementation of a business support module for the private sector.

The e-levy went into effect on May 1st. On Saturday, May 14, John Kumah told TV3’s William Evans-Nkum that the soon-to-be-implemented program will address the country’s unemployment problem.

“First and foremost, government is delighted that the e-levy has been passed and successfully implemented,” the Ejisu MP stated. The government’s next important step is to address the paucity of job opportunities for young people. As a result, His Excellency the President will launch the YouStart program in the coming month.

“Through the YouStart program, the government aims to create one million employment in the private sector over the next three years by supporting young people’s creativity and invention, as well as assisting them in determining their own destiny.”
