Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a member of parliament for North Tongu in the Volta region, recently gave an interview in which he made a comment that has been praised for its thoughtfulness.
During an appearance on GHToday on Ghone TV, a member of Parliament for the National Democratic Congress revealed that, in all honesty, he has always waited for the salaries of politicians to be paid after the salaries of the poor and vulnerable have been paid and they are in a safe position. He has done this because he believes that politicians should put the needs of their constituents first. His statement was made immediately after he disclosed, during the very same interview, that the parliamentary salary for the month of May had not been paid.
He mentioned to the presenter, Serwaa Amihere, that the salaries of the lawmakers had not been paid; however, he would like the salaries of the Nabco trainees and the national service employees to be paid because he is aware that they have a lot of business to take care of.
