I will bite you if… Former NDC Organiser tells people rooting for Mahama’s comeback in 2024 [Listen]

Yaw Boateng Gyan, a former national organizer for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has said that it is improper for party executives to support a single candidate before the polls have even been opened.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen on Tuesday, he warned that rather than hopping from station to station supporting one individual for a flagbearership post, it is crucial that they work together to develop a strong and formidable party.

“Our party statutes prohibit party executives from repeatedly addressing and endorsing a single individual. That shouldn’t be the main emphasis. Our main goal must be to join forces with other members and develop our party as a whole.

When the party hasn’t even opened the polls, “we all need to settle down well and develop the infrastructure to make us solid, not who leads now.”

While stating that he had nothing against those who were supporting Mr. Mahama, he issued a warning that anyone who dared to repress him because of his opinions would face serious consequences.

“I won’t prohibit anyone from supporting Mahama’s candidacy for flagbearer, and I don’t anticipate anyone stopping me from expressing my opinions on who should lead as well.

This is not acceptable, and since the party is democratic, everyone should be given the opportunity to express their opinions. If you try to stop me from speaking, I will have to bite you. We will accept whatever the majority believes, but for the time being, let’s refrain from naming any names,” he insisted.

According to the timeline for its internal elections, the NDC will choose its flagbearer for the 2024 elections in November of this year. Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, a former minister of finance, has come up as a candidate and is reportedly willing to compete with former president John Mahama for the position.
