Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah expressed optimism that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentarians will soon have all of their members in parliament, allowing the government’s agenda, including the passage of the E-levy, to go easily.
He acknowledged that one of the NPP MPs had been absent from Parliament, but he expressed confidence that the problem would be rectified soon.
“We haven’t had the full complement of our members in recent weeks, and this is a matter of public record.” “We’re optimistic that this will be resolved soon,” he said.
“I believe it is common knowledge that we have been without one of our members, but we are confident that this will be rectified soon.” I am optimistic that, in the end, we will have the complement we require to start the business moving,” the Ofoase Ayirebi lawmaker stated on Tuesday, March 22 on the Good Evening Ghana show.
Some NPP members believe Sarah Adwoa Safo, a member of Parliament from Dome Kwabenya, is sabotaging the administration by not appearing in Parliament.
Micheal Okyere Baafi, the Member of Parliament for New Juabeng South, for example, has stated that she is obstructing the government’s work in Parliament.
“Adwoa Safo is to blame for all of the government’s issues.” On Kumasi’s Hello FM, he stated, “Clearly, her intention and posture reveal that she wants to sabotage NPP.”
Kennedy Agyapong, an Assin Central legislator, also spoke out against Adwoa Safo’s behavior.
He argued that by wanting to be nominated as the Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament, the Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection had failed in life.
He couldn’t understand why a cabinet minister would select a position below that of a Minister.
“She says she wants to be Deputy Majority, that woman has failed in life,” Mr Agyapong, who has two children with Adwoa Safo, said of her repeated absences from Parliament. She should go to hell since a full cabinet minister has asked to be named Deputy Majority Leader before she comes.
“You don’t come to Parliament because you’re dancing on TikTok?” Get this straight: Dome Kwabenya is not for Apostle Kwadwo Safo. I’m enraged because people are mocking me for going there to campaign for her. I ran against Speaker Mike Oquaye, whom I much admire, because Adwoa used my children to contact me and urge me to help her. And now everyone is chastising me for it, but I don’t regret it since she is such a good mother to the kids,” he said on GTV on Monday, February 21.
“More than 15 days, and the statute specifies 15 days,” he said when asked how many days she has been away from Parliament.
“Why not?” he answered when asked if Ghanaians should anticipate her seat to be declared vacant. She should enter a TikTok competition.” Some New Patriotic Party (NPP) members believe she is attempting to destabilize the administration.
