Recently, veteran rapper Okyeame Kwame said in an interview that the current crop of rappers is performing better than those of their generation. Legendary Ghanaian highlife singer Rex Omar appears to be supporting Kwame, as he recently said the same thing on Kastle FM.
He said , “Globalization has made things easier for people. If one approaches it with a business attitude, one can make money. The bulk of Ghanaian musicians devote their entire careers on earning money and accolades rather than writing great tunes. Artists are expected to invest in their careers. Furthermore, it costs a lot of money, so you can’t just start out and rely on great music.
It is no longer useful. You can succeed if you have all the essential tools, a strong marketing plan, a strong marketing strategy, and everything else. As a result, it is an improvement over the past, but it also costs more money, and you must understand the business aspect.
