Issah Sibawe, the Deputy Secretary of the Kintampo South National Democratic Congress (NDC), was killed in a car accident on the Kintampo-Techiman route.
The event happened on Sunday afternoon, according to reports. This is only three days after Siba, as he was lovingly known, married. Mr Sibawe and his new bride traveled to Techiman to formally introduce themselves to their families, as was customary, but were injured in an accident on their way back.
Matthew Atanga, the constituency communications officer, confirmed the occurrence.
He stated the disaster happened when one of the tyres of the pick-up truck they were in blew out.
He said that this caused the truck to go off the road and repeated somersaults, killing Siba on the spot.
Mr. Atanga stated that he was buried in Islamic tradition after his death.
Meanwhile, his wife is being treated at the Techiman Holy Family hospital for various injuries.
Mr Atanga went on to say that Siba’s death is a huge loss for the constituency because he was a diligent man who contributed significantly to the party’s progress.
“It will be difficult to replace him,” he lamented.
