Two individuals were murdered and 14 were injured in a shooting at a nightclub in Oslo, Norway’s capital.Several people were shot near the London Pub, a renowned homosexual bar and nightclub in the city center.
According to NRK, at least three crime scenes have been identified.
The man was apprehended a few minutes later in a nearby street, according to police.
The shooter’s motivation is unknown, while NRK reports that he was previously known to authorities.
He is not cooperating with officers, although his residence has been searched, according to the broadcaster.
NRK journalist Olav Roenneberg stated: “I observed a man approach with a backpack, pick up a gun, and begin shooting.
“At first, I assumed it was an air pistol, but then the glass in the pub next door smashed and I realized I needed to run for shelter.”
The attack, according to Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stre, was “cruel and extremely frightening on innocent people.”
Police are investigating a possible “connection” to Pride.
The annual Pride march in Oslo is scheduled for later Saturday, but police spokesperson Tore Barstad said it was unclear whether this was related to the shooting.
“Police are in communication with the Pride event organizers this Saturday,” he stated.
“There will be a continual review of what actions police should take to protect that event and whether this incident has any relevance to Pride.”
On Facebook, the organizers of Oslo Pride stated: “We are startled and grieved by the tragic occurrence, which we are actively monitoring.
“Our hearts go out to the victims and their families.”
