The Ghana Police Service is presently holding five people for “unlawful harm” and “damage” at the opposition National Democratic Congress’s Bono East Region headquarters (NDC).
According to reports, the five individuals—Kojo Agyei, Illiasu Sulemana, Andrew Kemire, Fatau Abdallah, and Alhaji Nuhu—were responsible for attacks on the regional headquarters of the party on Thursday, July 28.
In a statement released on Sunday, July 31, the police stated that “during the attacks, one victim got several knife wounds and is currently on admission at the Techiman Government Hospital.”
“A vehicle that was parked at the party office as well as the sliding windows of the office were vandalized.”
The five accused will all appear in court on Monday, August 1 “to face justice,” according to the police.
The Public Affairs Unit of the Bono East Regional Police Command issued a statement under the signature of ASP Bosie Dankwa Amponsa urging people and organizations to use conversation rather than violence “to address their disagreements since the police will not hesitate to apply the law.”
