On Wednesday, October 26, 2022, Speaker of the House Alban Bagbin will make a decision regarding Sarah Adwoa Safo of the Dome-Kwabenya.
Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin postponed making a decision regarding whether or not the Dome-Kwabenya seat should be declared vacant after she failed to appear at a meeting of the Privileges Committee regarding her ongoing absence from Parliament before Parliament broke up in July.
Adwoa Safo is one of three lawmakers summoned before the Privileges Committee for being absent from their parliamentary duties for longer than allowed without a valid excuse.
The Dome-Kwabenya lawmaker disregarded the summons even though the other two MPs, Kennedy Agyapong of Assin Central and Henry Quartey of Ayawaso West, appeared before the committee.
She explained her extended absence from Parliament as being caused by family concerns, citing her ill son as one among them.
She was most recently removed from her position as minister of gender, children, and social protection by the president.
