We’re looking at increasing transport fares by 15% – GPRTU

The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has stated that they are considering raising transportation fares by 15%.

 

The GPRTU’s Public Relations Officer, Aljhaji Abass Imoro, stated on Key Points on TV3 on Saturday, June 25 that they are waiting to reach an agreement with the Ministry of Transport before publicizing the increase.

 

“We are considering raising transportation fares by 15%,” he stated.

 

“We are waiting on the transport ministry to strike an agreement,” he continued.

 

Transport operators have been protesting about the country’s escalating fuel prices.

 

The GPRTU stated that increasing gasoline prices are harming their businesses, thus the need to raise transportation fares.
